Hand-built Sculpture and Reliefs in Clay
Celebrate spring creating clay art for the outdoors. Let’s explore and sculpt bugs, birds, frogs, and plants to incorporate into a variety of garden art. Students receive instructor assistance in creating sculptural and relief works inspired by their imagination and memory. They develop technical and application skills through simple conceptual drawing and hands-on fabrication projects. Student will gain the confidence, knowledge and understanding of the ceramic process to produce unique individual clay works.
Instructor assistance includes demonstration of various hand-building and decorative techniques, tool usage and glaze application. Each student brings their individual ideas to class that may be applied to the conceptual plan for their creations.
The class is designed to encourage personal expression, style, and ideas for students to produce unique individual clay works.
Work will be exhibited in the last class. Parents are encouraged to attend. Students will take their creations home with them.9 Sessions; Grades 1-5
