Sculpting Zany and Comical Creatures
Have fun in this hands-on clay class exploring and creating a world of imaginary creatures. Instructor assistance include demonstration of sculptural hand-building techniques, tool usage, glaze application, surface design and the kiln firing process to create a variety of freestanding ceramic sculptures. We will look at examples of different types of figurative sculpture to inspire ideas and creativity. Students will be encouraged to produce conceptual drawings to assist in the development of their imaginary characters in several projects.
The class is designed to encourage personal expression, style and ideas to produce unique individual clay works. Work will be exhibited in the last class. Parents are encouraged to attend. Students will take their creations home with them.
